Rebecca Hughes - Resident Trainer

Rebecca joined forces with Julia Hornig over 25 years ago to set up Classic Dressage – which started a new career that has resulted in her fantastic reputation as a selector and starter of top dressage horses.   Her own experience in training horses up to Grand Prix has made her very successful at spotting and producing young horses

Her achievements are too numerous to mention but include National Young Horse Titles from 2001 when she won the 5 year old National Championships on Classic Collection to winning the 6 year old Hickstead and Shearwater Championships in 2011 on Classic Ballerina.  Rebecca also found and started the hugely successful Classic Sandman and Classic Briolinca on whom her husband Gareth has just won Team Gold at the 2023 European Dressage Championships.  In 2008 Rebecca won the PSG Freestyle National Championship on Felicity Scott’s Shining Light and went on to numerous wins and placings at Small Tour.

Rebecca has trained many horses from Novice level to Grand Prix.  Competing at Grand Prix this year are Classic Flamboyand and Classic Goldstrike - both of whom were selected by her as 3 year olds.

Rebecca is firmly establishing herself as a very effective trainer of all levels including Young Riders and Eventers and is a British Dressage listed Judge.
