Working with Rebecca Hughes at Equine Elite Auction transformed my Dressage Career

Two years ago, I was looking to buy my first competitive dressage horse and had absolutely no idea where to start. With Rebecca’s help and support, I found the perfect mare for me through Equine Elite.

A few months later, I went to the Equine Elite auction with Rebecca, this time looking for a more experienced horse that I could learn from and progress through the levels with. On the trial day, Rebecca helped pick out the horses she thought would suit me and gave me so much confidence. I was quite nervous about riding horses of that level and experience, but having her there made the whole process feel so much easier.

That day I found Gadget, and I genuinely couldn’t have found a better horse for me. In less than two years together, he has taken me from competing at Medium level to riding my first U25 Grand Prix, and we are now heading to the National Championships to compete at Inter II. He has completely exceeded anything I could have imagined when I first sat on him at the auction and has given me opportunities and experiences I never thought I would have.

The whole experience at Equine Elite was amazing and I loved every minute of it. Buying through an auction can seem quite daunting, especially when you’re looking for a horse to help you step up through the levels, but I felt supported throughout the whole process. I couldn’t recommend going to the auction with Rebecca enough — her knowledge, support and ability to match the right horse with the right rider made such a difference for me. I definitely wouldn’t have ended up with Gadget without her, and I’ll always be incredibly grateful that I did.
